Sustainable Finance Principles for Socio-economic Development is the CEOrt’s recurring sustainable finance convening — a breakfast meeting organised with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) at the Hyatt Regency Kilimanjaro Hotel in Dar es Salaam. Its inaugural edition in 2019 launched the process that gave Tanzania its Sustainable Finance Principles.

A working breakfast, not a talk shop
The convening runs as a breakfast meeting — chief executives, bankers and regulators at the same tables, working through the practicalities of sustainable finance before the business day begins.
Hyatt Regency Kilimanjaro, Dar es Salaam
Hosted at the Hyatt Regency Kilimanjaro Hotel, the venue for the CEOrt’s flagship policy dinners and roundtables in the commercial capital.

Organised by the CEOrt in partnership with the International Union for Conservation of Nature, bringing global conservation-finance expertise to a Tanzanian table.

The inaugural convening set its outcome clearly: establishing a CEO-led process for developing Tanzania’s Sustainable Finance Principles — a framework now championed across the banking sector.

Sustainable Finance Principles for Socio-economic Development
The inaugural convening brought bank chief executives together with regulators, IUCN and the Tanzania Bankers Association — the beginning of a framework built to raise financial sector awareness of environmental and social risks, promote sustainable finance practices, increase transparency, and reinforce stakeholder confidence in the sector.
