Privacy Policy — how we handle your data.
This policy describes how the CEO Roundtable of Tanzania collects, uses and safeguards personal information on this website. Effective January 2024.
Our commitments
1. Who we are
The CEO Roundtable of Tanzania (CEOrt) is a strong community of Chief Executives from over 200 leading companies in Tanzania. Established in 2000 and formally registered in 2008 as a not-for-profit entity, CEOrt operates from 439 Mahando Street, Masaki Area, Dar es Salaam. This policy explains how we collect, use and protect personal data on this website.
2. Information we collect
We collect the information you provide directly through forms on this site — such as contact enquiries, membership applications, CAP applications and nominations. This typically includes your name, position, organisation, email address, phone number and the content of your message. When you leave a comment, we may also collect your IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
3. How we use your information
We use personal data to respond to enquiries, process membership and programme applications, coordinate events and engagements, share newsletters and publications you have requested, and maintain the administrative records of the organisation. We do not sell personal data to any third party.
4. Cookies
This site uses cookies to improve your browsing experience. If you leave a comment you may opt in to cookies that save your name and email for future comments; these last one year. Login cookies last two days, or two weeks if you select "Remember Me", and are removed when you log out. If you edit or publish content, an additional cookie lasting one day records the post ID of the item you edited.
5. Media and uploads
If you upload images or documents to the website, avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website can download and extract location data from images published on the site.
6. Embedded content from other websites
Pages on this site may include embedded content such as videos, maps and social media posts — including Google Maps and YouTube. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if you had visited the other website, and those websites may collect data about you, use cookies and monitor your interaction with the embedded content.
7. Third-party services
We rely on trusted third-party services to operate this website, including Cloudinary for image hosting and delivery, Google Maps for location embeds, and email service providers for correspondence. These providers process limited technical data (such as your IP address) as necessary to deliver their services, under their own privacy policies. Email addresses used for comments may be checked against the Gravatar service via an anonymised hash.
8. Who we share your data with
Personal data is handled by the CEOrt Secretariat and shared internally only with those who need it to respond to your request — for example, the programme team reviewing a CAP application. We may share data with service providers acting on our behalf, or where disclosure is required by law. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
9. How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely so that follow-up comments can be recognised automatically. Form submissions are retained for as long as needed to handle your request and meet our administrative and legal obligations. For users who register on the website, we store the personal information provided in their profile, which they can view, edit or delete at any time.
10. Your rights over your data
If you have an account, have left comments or have submitted forms on this site, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. You can also request that we erase that personal data. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.
