The CEO Roundtable of Tanzania (CEOrt) is a strong community of Chief Executives from over 200 leading companies in Tanzania, cutting across multiple sectors of the economy with a shared purpose: to enhance our impact in leadership and the country’s sustainable development and prosperity.
Collectively, members of the CEO Roundtable contribute over 40% of taxes collected by the Government of Tanzania. Members also contribute significantly to the economy through employment, capacity building, technology transfer and skills development — all critical to ensure continued and strategic investment for the country.
Our story
Founded in the year 2000 by a small group of CEOs, on the ethos of Ethical Leadership for Growth and Prosperity, the CEOrt set out to create a forum through which industry leaders within the Tanzanian private sector could constructively engage with government, its development partners and other stakeholders.
The aim, then as now: a more conducive environment for business to prosper and for the country to develop. More than two decades on, that founding intent has grown into Tanzania’s foremost platform for private-sector leadership — convening dialogue, championing integrity and investing in the next generation of chief executives.
Mission & vision
Our mission: to create a forum whereby CEOs can drive prosperity through effective engagement with Government, Development Partners and other Private Sector leaders on ethics and policy imperatives — with a view towards contributing to the country’s sustainable socio-economic development.
Our vision: to be recognized as the most ethical and transformative platform in Africa.
A legacy of ethical leadership
That founding conviction was personified by Ali Mufuruki, Founding Chairman of the CEO Roundtable of Tanzania from 2008 to 2018, whose belief in Africa’s agency continues to anchor the organisation’s ethos — Ethical Leadership for Growth and Prosperity.
