Gbenga Makinde

Gbenga Makinde is the Managing Director/Chief Executive of United Bank for Africa (Tanzania) Limited, a subsidiary of the United Bank for Africa Plc with presence in 20 African countries, USA and United Kingdom. Prior to his appointment as MD/CEO of UBA Tanzania, GMak was the MD/CEO of UBA Benin Republic, another subsidiary of UBA Plc, which he turned around within a year, thereby moving to the #3 bank with recognition as the Banker’s Magazine Best Bank awards in Benin Republic in two consecutive years – 2020 and 2021. Gbenga (commonly known as GMak) has almost two and half decades in the banking with core competences in Credit Risk Management; multinational Fast-Moving Consumer Goods organisations; Commercial, Retail, and Branch management.

He is an alumnus of Lagos Business School with Executive Master’s Degree in Business Administration and a fellow of the Institute of Credit Administration, Nigeria.
