Since its launch, the CEO Apprenticeship Programme has trained over 90 local executives across five cohorts — drawn from Tanzania’s leading companies and public institutions, and sponsored by the CEOrt member community.
Cohort history
Cohort 1
Launch — graduated 2021 16 participants- The pioneering class of 16 executives completed the inaugural curriculum.
- Former President Benjamin Mkapa addressed the candidates during the launch period.
- Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa was guest of honour at the Dar es Salaam graduation.
- Three alumni were promoted to CEO positions and two more to senior leadership roles.
Cohort 2
Launched October 2021 Female participation doubled- Launch graced by Hon. Deogratius Ndejembi, Deputy Minister in the President’s Office (PSM).
- Sponsored by 14 leading companies including Songas, NBC, KCB, CRDB Bank, Stanbic Bank and NMB Bank.
- Marked a 100% increase in female participation on the programme.
Cohort 3
Launched January 2022 Applications opened nationwide- Applications opened to Tanzanian executives across the public and private sectors.
- Continued the monthly mentorship evenings pairing apprentices with visionary leaders.
Cohort 4
Active through 2024 Mentorship series continued- Fifth mentorship session held on 18 April 2024 on the theme “Power, Influence and Leaving a Legacy”.
- Keynote delivered by Ambassador Ombeni Sefue.
Cohort 5
Graduated 29 August 2025 CAP’s fifth anniversary class- Business Simulation orientation held in October 2024.
- Graduation marked CAP’s fifth anniversary — over 90 local executives trained across five cohorts.
- Focused on leaders prepared to drive Tanzania’s transformation and Vision 2050.
Sectors represented
Participants and sponsoring companies span the industries at the heart of Tanzania’s economy — with banking, manufacturing and oil & gas leading alumni CEO placements.
Cohort 2 alone was sponsored by 14 companies including Songas, NBC, KCB, Kioo Limited, Primefuels, Multichoice Tanzania, CRDB Bank, Chemi Cotex, Stanbic Bank, NMB Bank and Spedag Interfreight.
